How We Roll

Why the name Chesterfield’s Gastro Diner?

A chesterfield is a uniquely Canadian term for a couch. We wanted a quirky name that represented comfortability. We all share a common memory of the times our parents broke the rules and allowed us to eat in the living room.

Gastro Diner was coined, not as a place, but for the people who come here. These people are treated as family and friends who care about having a great meal at an affordable price. Our main goal is to have less of a financial enterprise, and more of a social co-op. To achieve this we will work closely with our guests, staff, local suppliers and neighbourhood services. This enables us to build a community restaurant where the people make the place.

We’re dedicated to making homemade fresh food.

Our menu has a collection of classic diner fare and incorporates different twists while focusing on a more health conscious lifestyle.

Being green is important to us. The majority of our restaurant setup was built with second hand goods. We run solely on hydroelectricity, use no styrofoam and we recycle. We are always open to any suggestion in how to reduce our carbon footprint.

Personable, fast and consistent service is something we always offer, without giving up on the fun of it all. Our grandparents each conveyed to us the same lesson, “If you can find something you love to do and make a buck at it, then you’ve found the secret to life.” We enjoy making people feel comfortable, that’s why we live to serve and we serve to live.

So next time you’re in the neighborhood come by for a quick “to go” visit or make yourself at home and if you feel like talking, get comfy on a Chesterfield.

Cheers,

Dominique and Demian.
